"Buy nothing, make a movie" Memories from a Black Friday

Does the consumerism of Black Friday bum you out?
Celebrate Buy Nothing Day instead! Swing by the Echo Park Film Center for this free, direct animation drop-in workshop and create your own handmade, one-of-a-kind piece of cinematic art. Our staff will show you the basics of frame-by-frame animated filmmaking by cutting, pasting, and drawing directly onto 16mm film stock.
This is a casual open house-style workshop, so feel free to come and go at your leisure, bring some Thanksgiving leftovers to share, and escape the shopping crowds.

We leave work to go to one of our favorite places in Los Angeles, the Echo Park Film Center. They were showing a documentary called "Be Here To Love Me" a documentary about the, for me unknown, Texan singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt., directed by Margaret Brown, who also attended and did a Q&A after the screening. We had some live music performed by the great Austin McCutchen.

Edificio España en Los Ángeles

Mientras que me preparaba para el estreno de la película "Operation Rock The Troops", me llegaban  ayer buenas nuevas de mis amigos Carla y Ernesto. En el maravilloso Echo Park Film Center de Los Ángeles iban a poner el documental Edificio España.
Llovía y no podía ir en bici, así que Carla me animó a explorar "el increíble mundo del autobús angelino". Como el que se va a El Escorial, una hora más tarde estaba allí.
Saludos, besos, me presentan a muchos españoles, cerveza, pipas.....si!!
Paolo, el fundador del precioso lugar, presenta a Victor Moreno, director del documental. Todo en inglés. Empieza el docu y yo como un tonto leo los subtítulos. Como extraño el cine en español!!
Al terminar, la bella Rocio Mesa modera el Q&A (la charleta post-peli)

Depués de la Q&A.... seguimos la charleta tomando unos vinos y completo las notas hablando con los que nos quedamos. Nos dan más de las doce y pierdo el bús de vuelta, menos mal que Julia y Pablo viven por mi barrio y me acercan a casa. Thank you!

Os recomiendo a todos ver el documental en cuanto tengais ocasión.
